Situated in the Region of Lika, Plitvice Lakes are truly a small piece of Heaven on Earth. Many times proclaimed as one of the most beautiful places in the world, 16 lakes and their waterfalls belong to the most valuable natural heritage. The park was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1979. Thousands of years of water flowing over limestone and chalk created natural dams of travertine, resulting in a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls.
