Parking Zones in Zadar
Zadar has four paid parking zones, each color-coded for easy identification. Understanding which zone you're in will save you time, money, and the headache of a towing fee.
Zone 1 — Blue Zone
The most central and expensive zone covers the Old Town peninsula and its immediate surroundings. Rates range from €0.80 to €1.59 per hour, with a maximum stay of 3 hours. This zone is ideal for quick visits to the Sea Organ, the Greeting to the Sun, or the Church of St. Donatus.
Zone 2 — Yellow Zone
Slightly further from the historic core, the Yellow Zone offers rates of €0.53 to €1.33 per hour with a maximum stay of 2 hours. A good option if you're visiting the Green Market or the restaurants along Varoš.
Zone 3 — Purple Zone
The Purple Zone is more affordable at €0.40 per hour with no maximum time limit. Perfect for those spending a full day exploring the city.
Zone 4 / Ravnice 2 — Green Zone
The most budget-friendly option at just €0.27 per hour. Located further from the centre, but still within reasonable walking distance.
Free Parking Options
If you'd rather not pay at all, there are several free alternatives:
- Ravnice lot — approximately 600 metres from the Old Town
- Police station area — about 1.2 km from the centre
- Višnjik sports center — 1.4 to 1.9 km away, with ample space
These are particularly useful in peak summer months when paid zones fill up quickly.
Towing and Penalties
Illegally parked vehicles will be towed. The costs add up fast:
- Vehicle towing: €39.82
- Dispatch fee: €19.91
- Daily storage: €6.64
If your car is towed, contact the hotline at +385 23 302 100.
Payment Methods
Parking in Zadar can be paid in euros (coins at meters), by ATM/bank cards at newer machines, or through mobile payment apps. Many locals use the mobile apps for convenience — you can extend your parking time remotely without running back to the meter.
